IZMIT BAY CROSSING PROJECT /
INSTALLATION OF OFFSHORE UNDERWATER PILES

Pile installation operation for the offshore piers of the Izmit Bay Crossing Bridge, ranking as the 4th longest suspension bridge in the world (2013) has been successfully completed with the utilization of unique and in-house designed methodology and equipment. Piles driven until 75m below the sea surface is the first of its kind for Turkish marine construction sector.

PROJECT SCOPE
  • Driving steel tubular piles with 2000 mm OD , 20-22 mm WT with 34,25 m length and Total number of piles 390 pieces
  • Supply and driving steel tubular piles of dolphins with 914 mm OD, 14 mm WT with length varying between 48m to 61 m and Total number of piles 48 pieces(2431 m)
  • First underwater pile driving operation with hydraulic hammer in Turkey Construction of mooring and breasting dolphins of bridge caissons(3 pcs)
  • Construction of logistic jetty
